Nurse Homestead Singers

Come participate in a truly unique choral experience! The Homestead is looking for singers to join our new a capella choir, the Nurse Homestead Singers. While all voices are welcome, we especially need tenors. The repertoire will focus on American choral music of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The singers will premier at the first annual Historic Holiday at the Nurse Homestead on November 25. For more information, contact Glenn Mairo at gmairo@hotmail.com or 978-580-9437.

A Historic Holiday

Saturday, November 25 2006 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The sweet, nutty scent of mulled cider. The crackle and pop of a wood fire. A goose turning on the spit. Fingers of candlelight reaching into dark corners. Babies playing on the floor. Neighborhood rowdies wassailing at the door. Come warm yourself at the hearth and start the holiday season with us, as the Rebecca Nurse Homestead celebrates, a Historic Holiday.

Experience colonial domestic life in the Nurse House. Hear the premiere performances of the Nurse Homestead Singers, under the direction of Glenn Mairo, at 1:30 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. in the Meetinghouse. Enjoy treats from The Queen of Tarts (our own Laura Abraham-Miller) after the performance. The Endecott Shop will be stocked with pottery, glass pen and ink sets, CDs of colonial music, books, teapots and tea, matted photos of the Nurse House, toys and much more. As members of the Rebecca Nurse Homestead Preservation Society, you’ll get a 20% discount in the shop. Even non-members will enjoy 10% off for this special day. We hope to see you there!

Admission: Tickets can be purchased in the Endecott Shop on the day of the event or reserved in advance by calling 978-580-9437. Tickets are also available online at: www.essexheritage.org. Click on “Tickets Online.” Adults $10; children and senior citizens, $6.
